BOX ELDER BUGS

The insect you are having problems with likes to feed on Box Elder and/or Maple trees and they winter over in the walls of houses. I believe you really don't care if the stay in the walls and don't come into your living area, right? Well, the only way to stop that from happening, is to caulk all of the baseboards and door and window frames on the inside of the outside walls of your house. If you use clear caulk, it can't be seen and you can paint over it when you paint the next time. Worked for me and the wife, we haven't seen but 2 all winter, in the house. I guess nothing is perfect! Hope you do as well.

By the way if you see them gathering on the side of your house, use you hose end sprayer to kill lots before they go under the siding. I use a hose end sprayer that I purchased from a company that no longer exists. You will need to work out the mixture on your sprayer to get as close to 32 to 1 mixture as possible, fill the jar with Tide laundry detergent, set the nozzle to stream and spray them well. This method kills any insects on the house siding, including spiders. Works great....try it.   -Trapper
