LADYBUGS

Ladybug, Ladybug, fly away from my home.........GO NEXT DOOR!

The insect you are having problems with is an import from Asia, they winter over in the walls of houses because there are not any trees with bark and leaves like ours. Naturally, when they were brought here they do the same thing, causing problems. I believe you really don't care if the stay in the walls and don't come into your living area, right? Well, the only way to stop that from happening, is to caulk all of the baseboards and door and window frames on the outside walls of your house. If you use clear caulk, it can't be seen and you can paint over it when you paint the next time. Worked for me and the wife, we haven't seen but 2 all winter, in the house. I guess nothing is perfect!

By the way if you see them gathering on the side of your house, use you hose end sprayer to kill lots before they go under the siding. I use a hose end sprayer that I purchased form a company that no longer exists. You just set the nozzle to stream and adjust the mixture setting to 32 to 1, fill the jar with Tide laundry detergent and spray them well.   You may may have to work out the mixture with the sprayer you have to get as close as possible to the 32/1 mixture. This method kills any insects on the house siding, including spiders. Works great....try it.

A good way to catch these pests inside the house is with my "Flea Trap" (instructions are under FAQ, "Flea Trap").  Set it and go to bed.   In the morning they will be either in the water or sitting on the jug.   Put a 2" piece of flea collar in your sweeper bag, then suck up the bugs that are on the floor and the outside of the jug with the sweeper, plug the hose end of the sweeper and the flea collar will kill them in about half hour.  Take the sweeper bag outside and dump it out.   Pick up the collar and put it back in the bag for tomorrow.   YES! you will need to do this more than once.   It may take a week or more to completely eliminate these pests.  The second time you dump the bag, add another piece of flea collar.   Save the balance of your flea collar by heating a jar to 200 degrees in the oven, put the collar inside and screw the lid on.   As the jar cools it vacuum seals.
