MILLIPEDES

Normally millipedes are not a problem, unfortunately sometimes when it gets too wet for them to survive in their usual environment, they move into your basement and become a problem. Unless there are too many to of them, I would not worry about them, they will quickly die in a dry basement. Now, if you are seeing a whole big bunch of them, you might want to kill them with diatomaceous earth. Usually people see them in their basements because they come up through the cracks in the floor/walls, to avoid the water under the floor. If you are having this problem, get some Diatomaceous Earth, Rotenone or Tobacco powder and put some in all of the cracks or holes you can find in the basement floor or walls. You can make a very good insect spray using the following. 2 cups of Tide Detergent, 1 cup of Kerosene and one gallon of boiling water. Put the Tide in a bucket and pour in the boiling water, stir until the Tide is suspended in the water then pour in the kerosene and continue stirring for several minutes. Allow to cool, fill your sprayer or an old Windex Bottle and spray away.
