RATS

Sometimes you can't catch a rat in a regular rat trap; this is due to the fact that they have seen another rat caught in the same type of trap. When this happens, you need to use something different, like a glue board trap, or a #55 Conibear set with a stabilizer. My advice is never resort to poison in your home, you could end up with the odor of a dead rat inside your wall, NOT GOOD!

If you really want to use poison, try my method, it works better. Fill a jar lid with instant potatoes right from the box and smash one Alka Seltzer into powder and sprinkle it over the potato flakes. Set this out for the rats to find and eat, and be sure to set some water about 4 to 6 feet away from the potatoes.  You must make sure the potatoes don't get damp or wet, if this happens the system doesn't work.   What you are dealing with is a rodent that can't pass gas, belch, or throw up, therefore when he eats the potatoes and gets a drink, You know what happens to instant potatoes and Alka Seltzer when you put them in water?   Well I'll let the rest up to your imagination.

Another good method is to mix wheat flour and Portland cement 50/50 and add some sugar for taste. I suggest 5lbs of flour, 5 lbs of cement and 1 lb of sugar, but you can cut this down or double it up to fit your needs. Make sure there is nothing else for them to eat or this method doesn't work.

If you really feel the need to use a poison, mix it with something they will have to swallow, like peanut butter.
